Bass boats, like everything else in the fishing world have greatly changed over the years. With the advances in the boat building process and modern technology built into these fishing machines, there really isn’t a bad brand of bass boat. There are some great brands out there, but I believe there are a few things that separate one brand from the rest. I have created my Top 10 Reasons to Buy a Legend Boat. It was hard for me to narrow it down to just ten, but I did it.
The Ride – No discussion about bass boats would be complete without talking about what makes a good ride vs. one that will beat you up in rough water. Legend boats are well known for their rough water capabilities. I fished as a co-angler for years and had the opportunity to ride in every major bass boat brand (as well as many lesser known brands). I knew what a good ride was and test drove a Legend to see for myself, and I knew right away this was the boat I wanted to buy. I believe that getting there in one piece and not being sore the next day is just as important as how fast a boat goes (and Legends aren’t slow by any means).
Customer Service – Have you ever purchased a high end item only to find that the support and customer service was lacking? Maybe you haven’t, but it is a bad feeling. That isn’t going to happen with Legend boats. If you have a problem, a question or need a new part; give them a call. They will get it resolved in no time and chances are they will know your name and ask how you are doing.
Customization – Bass boats can often look identical sitting next to each other. Every brand seems to have the same basic style, features and look. With Legend, you are getting a completely custom design. From the trademark fading of colors to the stylish rims, you get to choose what you want. Want one Lowrance and one Humminbird? Sure, you could do that- no problem. Want 20” rims on your trailer? You could have that too. The list of custom options goes on and on and a Legend is unique in it’s own way.
Style – You can look like everyone else and have a boat that disappears in a crowd, or you can have the style and look all to your own. One feature I really like in my Legend is the lighted trailer with Legend Boats logo. Pull up at the ramp before dark and you will stand out. The features list is long and it really is up to your imagination what style you create.
Storage- If you need room for all of your stuff (what bass angler doesn’t?), you will appreciate the storage space built into Legend boats. A 14 rod organizer and massive storage up front and in the back make sure that you have room to keep everything you need right on the boat.
Comfort – In addition to the great ride, these boats are built thinking about comfort. Padded gel seats and huge amounts of leg room are just two reasons this boat is so comfortable to ride in.
Quality – Everything about the Legend is quality. There are no parts or features on this boat that are cheaply made. Everything about the design and layout is both thought out and more importantly – built to last.
Construction – Legend Boats are built right. The quality components coupled with quality design and construction makes this boat stand out from the rest. They don’t cut corners; even the engine box is finished with gel-coat. The carpet is riveted in place and the entire boat is finished with a deep, glossy gel coat. From bow to stern, everything is built correctly.
Fishability – Everyone always wants to talk about how fast a boat is, or how well it is to fish from. What if you could have both? With a Legend, you get the speed, but you can also fish comfortably from large front and rear decks…all day long.
Trailer – Probably the most boring and least sexy of anything about bass boats, but I love this trailer. It’s easy to get in and out of and I added the Tuff Coat option to protect it when I am on the road and to add a sleek, tough black finish.
When choosing a boat brand, take into consideration everything you can think of. It is a big decision and you want to be well informed. If possible, take a tour of the factory or watch a video of the entire process. It will give you a better idea of what separates a good boat from becoming a Legend.
